Santiago, Chile, 1926 ? 2001
CHILEAN MASTER PAINTER, whose approach to FIGURE and LANDSCAPE painting was influenced by the approach to form and color pioneered by POST IMPRESSIONIST, Cezanne.
Barcia trained at the Scholl of Fine Art at the University of Chile in Santiago.
Barcia's paintings contemplate the grandeur of the landscapes, their infinite spaces and the changing effects of light and atmosphere. Barcia uses color and form subjectively in order to remove the images he creates from pre-conceived or traditional modes of representation, exploring their plastic possibilities to the limit.
