Cuenca, España, 1952
Popular Spanish painter Jesus Cuenca is known for his figurative style works, which often approach abstraction with expressionist touches.
The lines of his work are loose and the strength of the backgrounds in contrast with the foregrounds, create the initial feeling that we are looking at an abstract work. However, contemplating the forms and silhouettes on the surface, while at the same time considering the overall composition, we can appreciate the subtleties that his paintings hold.
Jesus Cuenca studied Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artisticos, at the Escola Llotja y Pintura in the Escola Massana in Barcelona, Spain. He also has a fine arts degree from the University of Barcelona.
