Dan Flavin
(New York, 1933-1996)

American sculptor and Minimalist artist, best known for his commissioned work at the New York Grand Central Station in 1976.

Self-trained, Dan Flavin came into limelight with his works using colored fluorescent lights, in 1963. Although he started his career, in watercolors and construction art, his most memorable works are pieces where he combined plain constructions with colored fluorescent tubes, the “icons” and works with intermittent or flashing lights.
