Jean Bazaine
Paris, 1904 – 2001

(1904 - 2001) Famous French painter and designer, most recognized as the leading exponent of Tachisme (a style of abstract painting, characterized by irregular blotches or dabs).

Trained at the École des Beaux Arts and the Académie Julian, in Paris, he first began exhibiting at the Salon d´Automne in 1931.

His most famous artworks have been public commissions, such as : the stained-glass windows at the Assy (1944-6), a ceramic mural for the church at Ardincourt (1948-51), a mosaic for the UNESCO building in Paris (1958), and stained-glass windows for the Sanint-Severin, París (1964-9).
