Georg Baselitz
(Sachen, Sajonia, 1938)

German printmaker, painter and sculptor, also considered to be a pioneer of New-Expressionism.

While critical opinions on this artists vary significantly, he has become one of the most controversial artists of our generation. He initially shocked the audience with his painting, The Great Piss-Up (Museum Ludwig, Cologne), which depicted a man with an enormous penis and later with his paintings of images constructed upside down.
