French-born American painter, and one of the key figures in the avant-garde art of the 20th century.
This artist commenced his career working on pieces influenced by Post-Impressionism and Fauvism and gradually shifted to the Dada movement. His works have been influential in the creation of several 20th century art styles, such as Minimal and Pop art.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art holds a considerable collection of his works. His most recognized works include: Nude Descending a Staircase No. 1 & No. 2, The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even and Etant donnés.
