Robert Capa
1913 – 1954

Hungarian born photographer recognised as one of the most significant war photographers of all time.

Photographs by Capa have often brought the most significant moments in modern history to our coffee tables. He documented events like Spanish Civil War, Sino-Japanese War, Second World War and the Birth of Israel. His first book, Spain, Death in the Making, was published in 1938. He is also credit for several other publications, including, Robert Capa: War Photographs.

In 1947, he founded the prestigious agency, Magnum Photos with his friends, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour and George Rodger. He also counted Picasso, Henri Matisse, Ingrid Bergman and Ernest Hemingway amongst his friends.

Robert Capa was killed by a landmine while taking photographs for Life magazine in Indochine, in 1954.
