Detailed Description
Wooden Flower 'Kezuri-bana' is a traditional and seasonal wood-craft of Sendai ( biggest city in North-East region of Japan)
Japanese have a custom of visiting a family tomb with bouquet in their hand, in late March/September.
However....before flower shop started to selling various flowers throughout the year in every city, it was almost impossible to find flowers in March in this region.
So, since an ex-Samurai-doctor, who lost his position by the End of Edo period/ Reign by Samurai, proposed this wooden flower for March tomb-visiting and the temple accepted, it has spreaded over this region and Kezuri-bana now is a kind of Spring symbol in Sendai
