Note: This is number 135 from the “347 Series” dating from 1968
The cancelled plate for this piece still exists . The title given by Beir (above in French) is certainly more suggestive then that given by the revised edition of Bloch in “The Picasso Project”. This piece was part of the so called “347 Series” of etchings made by Picasso in 1968. The lady to the left is probably a caricature of “La duchess d”Albe by Goya now in the Hispanic Society, New York
Edition: 50- There were also 17 artists proofs.
There were also 400 impressions on verge d’Auvergne, Richard de Bas watermarked paper “La Celestine” published for the book edition of “La Celestine” by Fernando de Rojas, Paris, 1971, Edition Crommelynck.
