MPP Yei Myint was born in 1953 in Myingyan and studied at the State School of Fine Arts in Mandalay. He is an established and influential artist. MPP Yei Myint is versatile in terms of style and creates his works as drawings, paintings and collages often with a Burmese theme at heart. One of his celebrated series is the juxtaposition of Van Gogh - his favourite international artist - with Bagan, the ancient capital of Burma. The present series of eroticism was created in oil, acrylic, pencil and handmade Shan paper. He is a master painter using confident brushstrokes, and he is highly recognized for his innovative ideas. MPP Yei Myint has exhibited in Burma as well as in Japan (1995, 1999), Singapore (1996, 1998, 2005), Taiwan (1996), Malaysia (1997, 1999), Germany (1999), and Finland (2001). Major Asian art museums have collected his works, such as the Singapore Art Museum, the National Art Gallery of Malaysia and the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan.
