Los Angeles, 1939 –

American photographer, best known for his mastery of light and high-contrast images, usually emphasizing a single geometric or human element. Trained at the San Francisco Art Institute, Gibson has emerged as one of the most celebrated artists of our time. His works form a part of the collections of several major American museums, such as, Museum of Modern Art, New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Gibson has published several books, many at his own Lustrum Press, such as DEJA VU, DAYS AT SEA, OVERTONES, and most recently EX LIBRIS.
