Pham Luc Biography

The painter Pham Luc was born in 1943 in Hue in central Vietnam. He graduated from Hanoi College of Fine Arts and was at the Army Art School during the Vietnam War. His images, mostly depicting the everyday life of rural people - scenes on the market, rice harvesting or fishing - reflect the speed with which he works. In contrast to his lacquer work, which takes quite a lot of time due to the elaborate technique, he works very expressively on his paper and silk gauze pictures. Since 1977 Pham Luc has had numerous exhibitions in Vietnam, Russia, Japan, France, Italy, Australia, Malaysia and Germany.
