Katie Mearns Biography

Established architect Katie Mearns? graphic prints explore the relationship between architectural techniques and the complex geometries made possible through the use of a computer as an architectural device.

Mearns received a BS in Architecture and was awarded a minor in architectural history and studio art from the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia in 2003. Mearns then attended the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 2004. She obtained her MA in Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in New York. Mearns has worked professionally in Los Angeles, New York and Virginia.

Mearns states, ?The Grow Make Agenda seeks to explore the specific relationship between architectural techniques of making (specifically drawing and model-making) and complex geometries made accessible by the appropriation of the computer as an architectural tool.?
