Bassari Biography

Galicia, Spain

An established Spanish artist, Bassari works with oil on canvas. His paintings often include architectural elements and pronounced plays of light and shadow. His airy pieces show a maturity achieved through years of diverse work and study.

He originally studied art in Santiago de Compostela, before moving to Madrid and training at the Circulo de Bellas Artes. There he concentrated on architectural renderings and technical drawing. He also worked as a set designer for television, theatre, and film.

During the 1950s and early 60s, Bassari traveled through Europe and North Africa. In Paris and Rome he studied 19th Century Romanticism and French Impressionism, as well as Cubism, Fauvism, Expressionism, and Abstractionism.

In the late 60s he studied at the Art Student?s League and Pan America Art School in New York. He later became a teacher there, and at the Pels School.

Bassari?s work is exhibited and sold throughout the world, including in the United States, Canada, South America, Japan, and Europe.
