Berto Lardera Biography
La Spezia, Italy, 1911 ? Paris, France, 1989
An established Italian sculptor, Berto Lardera was largely self-taught. His monumental metallic sculptures may have been influenced by the naval dockyards he grew up around.
His work evolved from abstract two dimensional pieces to more complex pieces created in a variety of metals and sizes. His interest in planes led him to make ?sculptural? prints as well. He cut forms into thick iron plates using his sculpting tools; eventually pulling prints from these sculpted blocks of metal.
His sculptures can be found throughout Europe, America, and Japan.
