Toru Hasegawa Biography

Up-and-coming artist Toru Hasegawa works as both sculptor and architect "exploring architecture as an abstract informational system."

Hasegawa received a BS in Architecture from Hosei University in Tokyo in 2003, and a MA in Architecture from Columbia University in New York in 2006. He has been featured in several publications and has received many awards. He currently is based in New York, working at Proxy Architects, of which he is a founding partner.

Proxy is a multi-platform design firm that explores architecture as an abstract informational system, interfacing through tools and imagery with many others - including the worlds of science, computation, and medicine. Proxy works on a diverse array of projects, ranging between custom software, product design and complex building structures.
