Emilio Greco Biography

A well-known Italian sculptor and printmaker, artworks by Emilio Greco (1913-1995) are inspired by the traditional CLASSICAL art.

Born in Catania, Greco also worked as a Professor of Sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Rome. Additionally, Greco taught at academies in Monaco and Salzburg.

His artworks form part of the permanent collections of various international museums; Amongst them are:

National Gallery of Modern Art, Rome;

Plein Air Museum of Sculpture, Paris;

Neue Pinanothek, Monaco;

International Gallery of Contemporary Art, Vence; and

National Gallery of Victoria; Melbourne.

In 1956, Greco received the Grand Prize in Sculpture at the Venice Biennial. He was also awarded the "President's Gold Medal for work in Education, Culture and Arts" (Italy).
