Elin Bjorsvik Biography

In her own words, the artist reveals her source of inspiration: ?My inspiration when making a painting is in the process itself, working with space and light, slowly building up the image by several layers of paint and textures."

"The abstract imagery I use is created through experimenting with colour and texture to describe and create the illusion of space and depth in my work.

Emotional expression is also an important part of creating the painting as the images explore my personal feelings, based on my own memories and experiences of life."

"Forms, patterns, texture and light becomes important elements in my work, as the sculptured and textured shapes and patterns, often in forms of squares or rectangles, becomes representations of the various relationships that exist within myself."

"Originally as a printmaker, I have developed my painting style along with my printmaking techniques, expressing a strong interest in both media through my work. My interest and background in printmaking has greatly influenced my painting process and over time I have developed my painting style to include elements of printing, without including any printmaking techniques."
