Carmen Anzano Biography

Vilanova de Sau, Spain, 1960.

An established Spanish artist, Carmen Anzano works with oil on canvas. Her pieces find themselves half way between painting and sculpture, uniting a certain three dimensionality with the two dimensional picture plane, as if the subject has begun to detach itself from the canvas. This treatment gives her work an object-like quality that is both evocative and poetic.

Anzano has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. In 1994 she received first prize at the II Bienal de Martorell, and in 1995 she was awarded residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.
