Bauhaus

Bauhaus

Founded in 1919, by Walter GROPIUS, this school of art and design was closed by the Nazis in 1933. Despite its short life Bauhaus is probably the most famous of the 20th century art schools. Artists such as László MOHOLY-NAGY, KANDINSKY, KLEE, Josef ALBERS and Herber BAYER, were associated with the school, as teachers or as alumni.

In 1990, after the reunification of Germany, the school at Dessau was reopened as a design school.
