Installation art is shown anywhere, not just in galleries. In fact some of the most famous installation art is in public and some is site specific regarding its meaning and significance. Everyday materials are used as well as video, sound, performance, computer aid, and the internet. The materials used often have a deeper significance behind the creation of the art. The purpose and meaning of installation art resonates from the relationship of material and space. Installation art can also be interactive, calling for the participation of the audience. Installation art grew from contemporary and conceptual art.
