Concrete Art

Concrete art grew around the work of Max Bill, a Swiss painter. Theo van Doesburg first introduced the term ´concrete art´in his ¨Manifesto of Concrete Art¨ in 1930.

Max Bill organized the first international exhibition in 1944. It grew to popularity in Northern Italy and France in the 1940´s and 1950´s through the groups Moviment d´arte concreta and Espace.
