Alberto Gironella Biography

An established Mexican artist, Alberto Gironella worked in a variety of mediums, but is best known for his collage. He often incorporated figures into his pieces, and was influenced by diverse figures such as Emiliano Zapata, Madonna, Luis Buñuel, and Nietzsche.

At a young age Gironella wrote poetry, but later gave it up to begin painting, exhibiting for the first time in 1952. Throughout his long career he showed in museums and galleries around the world, including in Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.
