Great product! Have enjoyed the inspiration in it! I have tried many of the projects and the instructions are clear and the visual presentations helpful. I would recommend this book to any beginning artist or advanced artist. There is technique and information that would inspire and help anyone wanting to create. I have long been an admirer of Kelly Rae's work,so to read and use the book was a real treat!

I've been wanting to do "art" for the longest time. I'd bought 2 mixed-media type books before this one, while they were interesting, this book is in a league of it's own. I did read some of the book, but was completely taken by the projects. The author describes the projects very well and the photos with detailed captions are extremely helpful. So... one day I started a project! Quite honestly, it was scary. What if I made a mistake? What if it turned out ugly? Once I began creating art, it was so relaxing & enjoyable. I couldn't wait to try a few of the techniques. So far, I've made 2 projects and I've made mistakes, but I've learned if I don't like how something looks, I can paint over it!
I can only write from a beginner's perspective, and as a beginning wannabe artist, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. This will undoubtedly be my go-to source for ideas and techniques.

I was really disappointed in this book - it's obviously a very good example of 'craft' type artwork, but that wasn't what I was hoping for: I'm not really a fan of the style of art used within. It's a very commercial, cutesy style that I'm not really a fan of - something that looks good on coffee mugs or tea towels but not terribly expressive. It's a great book for this kind of art, just not what I expected it to be. Not inspired at all, unfortunately.

This is a very nice book for someone who is just starting out or needs a big boost of "you can do it." An art book it's not. The style of so-called "art" herein consists of cookie cutter craft store collaged whimsy. A little bit of whimsy is fine; page after page of it is cloying. For goodness sake, if you're going to call it art, set or print out your own type rather than plunking down something from ArtGirlz! All the portraits are naif-style, doe-eyed, head tilted to the left waifs that a reasonably skilled (not necessarily talented) 10 year old could draw. Apparently this is all the author is capable of creating and comprises her entire emotional repertoire.
