Connecticut, US, 1928 -
SCULPTOR, PAINTER and PRINTMAKER Sol LeWitt is considered to be one of the most important American artists of the 20th century, and a leading exponent of MINIMALISM and CONCEPTUALISM, movements that emerged in New York in the 1960s.
In LeWitt's work, geometry represents eternal order. The artist is able to reduce an initial idea or concept to its most essential elements, eliminating objectivity.
