RENE BURRI

René Burri Photographs
Collector's Edition

Now, for the first time ever and featuring many never before published images, René Burri's remarkable and adventurous work is brought together in this career retrospective of over 400 duotone photographs. Edited and compiled by distinguished writer Hans-Michael Koetzle in close collaboration with Burri, this unprecedented retrospective is a history book of the major political events and key personalities of the 20th century seen through the eyes of one photographer.

A member of the prestigious Magnum photo agency, Burri is a photographer whose curiosity and humanity as a photographer have afforded him almost unrestricted access to the major events and personalities of the last fifty years. In this way, René Burri Photographs is a fascinating personal account of the major artists, politicians and personalities that Burri has made a part of his life. First achieving international recognition with the seminal photography book on post-WWII Germany Die Deutschen (The Germans) in 1962, René Burri has since become one of the most important figures in the history of photography, admired and respected by his peers for his sympathetic eye and his ability to capture larger-than-life personalities on film.

NAN GOLDIN

The Devil's Playground by Nan Goldin
Collector's Edition

The Devil's Playground presents a major collection of photographs by Nan Goldin. Since the 1980s Nan Goldin has consistently created photographs which are intimate and compelling - they tell personal stories of relationships, friendships and identity, but simultaneously chronicle different eras and the passage of time. This book features a significant body of new work by Goldin, including photographs from series such as Still on Earth (1997-2001), 57 Days (2000) and Elements (1995-2003), many of which are previously unpublished. Laid out in sequences by Goldin herself, like a diary, the material is both courageously candid and affirmative. The photographs are grouped into themed chapters and between these are interspersed a number of texts, poems and lyrics by prominent writers - including Nick Cave, Catherine Lampert, Cookie Mueller and Richard Price. The Devil's Playground is the first major book to be published on Goldin's work since 1996 and is her most significant to-date. It brings to light the source of Goldin's inspiration and her life as a prominent contemporary artist.
