Ramon Unzueta was born in Havana in 1962 and passed away in Spain in 2012. He attended the National School of Applied Arts and worked as illustrator and cartoonist for publishing and children's higher education, also contributed to periodicals and magazines of wide circulation.
He has been a resident of Tenerife, Spain, since 1992, has illustrated several books alongside Zoé Valdés. In his work of small or large format he employs various techniques and resources including; watercolor, oil, pastel ... all with equal success. On a thematic level, in recent times he has expanded his horizons not only by his characteristic portraits of women (bold, actresses, bohemian Parisian neighborhood girls, virgins, etc..), But also cityscapes and even placid seascaped, where the blues are the protagonists.
Unzueta works have been exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe and the U.S.Some of his work is featured in the Flores Carbonell Collection
