Pedro Sandoval Biography

Pedro Sandoval was born in Venezuela in 1966. It is a precocious artist, winning at age 6 national child award Osaka "Young Master of the World". In the 70s began his artistic career and since then is considered as one of the most interesting painters neoexpresionistas the international scene.

The artist began his career as a figurative artist, after investigating all the artistic trends of his time. In the end, decided to use abstraction, which takes its maximum splendor thanks to the large size of their works.

His career has been linked to Latin American artists, with teachers such as Jesus Soto (creator of kinetic art in Paris in the 50s), Omar Carreño (creator of expansionism in the years 60 and 70), Oswaldo Beams (one of the most important figurative painters Latin America), and Carlos Cruz-Diez, and influenced by the painting of Roberto Matta, one of the greatest creators of contemporary Latin American art art.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Pedro Sandoval out in different parts of the world, highlighting the exhibition "Masada" held at the Ars Forum gallery Caracas.

Since 2000, he lives and works in Madrid, Berlin, London, Tokyo and New York, where he exhibited since.

Today it is considered one of the most important artists of the world pictorial scene cataloged within the post-avant-garde and abstract neoexpresionismo always closely followed by national and international critics, is considered one of the most important values of Latin American art, supported by critics as Perán Ermini, Sofia Imber, Ariel Jiménez, Adolfo Wilson, Graziana La Rocca, Julia Sáez Angulo, Ricardo Barnatán and Dore Ashton.

Pedro Sandoval's works are contained in the collection of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, at the Museum of Art Boca Raton (Florida), Museum of Fine Arts in Salta or at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Osaka, among others.

Today, Pedro Sandoval conducts studies on American Abstract Expressionism and the German avant-garde. In the American Abstract Art is conducting studies on the painting by Hans Hofmann, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Ad Reinhardt, Cy Twombly. Regarding German authors, he studied with artists with whom he has a great friendship, as Georg Baselitz, Anselm Kiefer, and Sigmar Polke.
