Igor Ulangin Biography

Igor Ulangin is an independent artist, a member of the Union of Arts of Russia and the International Association of Art (Association internationale des arts plastiques) – AIAP UNESCO. Ulangin lives and works in Cheboksary (Russia) and has collective projects with authors and publishing houses from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Samara etc. He participated in numerous personal and collective exhibitions in Russia and Europe. His works are a part of Chuvash State Arts Museum, Silkeborg Kunstmuseum, S.M.Bellman-Museum and private collections. Now he continues his publishing project "Freepoetryart" which he started in Cheboksary with poet Gennady Aigi. Igor Ulangin is the curator of non-commercial artistic activity connected with art and design research and projects with artists, designers and poets. In 2011 Igor Ulangin was the superviser and one of the mentors of "Imaginary Haiku" Festival. Ulangin was a co-curator of several exhibitions in the Chuvash State Arts Museum: "World of These Eyes - Gennady Aigi and His Artistic Surroundings" (in cooperation with Open Society Institute), "Six Swedish Graphic Artists" (in cooperation with Swedish Institute), and «Artist’s Book» (in cooperation with «Cultural Capital of Volga Region» programm. Igor Ulangin is the editor of non-recurring magazine "Akzenty", where works of local artists and poets are published, he also published books and albums by G.Aigi, V.Petrova, A.Voznesensky, A.Makarov-Krotky, P.Petrov, N.Dronnikov, A.Mirzaev, A.Rybkin, M.Zennstrem, M.Silkeberg and the poetic almanac "Skandinavia-Volga" (in cooperation with Swedish Institute). Igor was also awarded the "Pushkinist" grant of Open Society Institute for his illustrations of "The Experience of Graphic Communication with Pushkin's Lyrics".
