Romy Castro Biography

Lisbon, Portugal, 1956

An established Portuguese artist, Romy Castro creates mixed media paintings on paper. Her work is very material and often speaks to the relation between artist and nature. She is best known for his austere paintings in which a strong horizontal line demarcates two worlds.

She has a degree in painting from the Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Lisbon, and the Facultad Complutense de Bellas Artes in Madrid. She also studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
