Cristina Iglesias Biography

San Sebastian, Spain, 1956

An established Spanish sculptor and graphic artist, Cristina Iglesias works with industrial materials. She combines concrete, iron and glass, with plant motifs like bamboo or fallen leaves, often covering the exterior of her pieces in foliage.

Her sculpture work is accompanied by large format serigraphs printed on silk or copper. These pieces often appear to be photographs of real installations, though in reality they depict miniature models of her sculptures. Along with her work in three dimensions, these prints create complicated spatial illusions, further blurring the distinctions between natural and constructed space.
