César Biography

(Cesar Baldaccini) (1921- )

French experimental artist, printmaker and sculptor, best recognized for his use of scrap materials and as one of the founder of NOUVEAU RÃ?ALISME.

Trained at the Ã?COLE DES BEAUX-ARTS, Marseilles and Ã?COLE DES BEAUX-ARTS, Paris, Cesar has continued to create very varied art, through his prolific career as an artist.

His best recognized works are: COMPRESSIONS (which are essentially scrapped cars crushed into dense packages), for example THE YELLOW BUICK, MOMA, New York; and EXPANSIONS (artworks created with plastics, such as the THUMB, TATE GALLERY, London).
