Brassaï (Gyula Halász), a Hungarian-born photographer, most well known for his images of Paris.

Brassai initially began his career as a modest newspaper photographer and came into limelight with the publication of his scenes of Parisian night life, Paris de nuit, in 1933. Some of his most popular works also depicted the café crowds of Paris. Between 1936 and 1963, Brassai served as a photographer of Harpers Bazaar.

A very close friend of PICASSO, Brassaï published numerous photographs of famous artists while at work in the studios. This work was published in the journal, MINOTAURE.
