Bourke-White, Margaret

American photographer, one of the most important pioneers of photojournalism.

In 1929, Margaret became the first photographer for the FORTUNE magazine and shortly thereafter the first female photojournalist for LIFE magazine (1935).

During the war, she served as a war correspondent and the first female journalist to be allowed to work in combat zones during World War II.

She later published a book on the American Depression, You Have Seen Their Faces, in collaboration with Erskine Caldwell. She is also very well known for her images of INDUSTRIALIZATION.
