Additive Process

Additive Process

The additive process and the substractive process are the two forms to produce color. This additive process was first demonstrated by James Clerk Maxwell in 1861. The process was based on RBG and the fact that all the colors can be obtained by the mixture of the primary colors of light - red, blue and green. Thus, three negatives with their respective filters were obtained and they were projected on the same screen with their corresponding filters, forming a unique image with all the tonalities of the original model. Although the additive process was first of the two methods in appearing, the substractive process became most popular.
