Constructivism

This movement is accredited for sculptures that are generally made with pieces of metal, glass, cardboard, wood or plastic and emphasize space over mass and "truth to materials".

Constructivism is known to have emerged from the CUBIST sculptures of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. After being influenced by Picasso’s cubist sculptures, Vladimir TATLIN, the Russian sculptor, created the first abstract sculptures and initiated CONSTRUCTIVISM.

Renowned names associated with this art movement included: Alexander EXTER, Naum GABO, El LISSITZKY, Antoine PEVSNER, Pablo PICASSO, Alexander RODCHENKO, Olga ROZANOVA and Vladimir TATLIN.
