When Artist and Interior Designer are One

Actors have long supplemented their television and film work with advertisements and commercials. But when it comes to art in other mediums, artists who do highly commercial work have often been looked down on. Increasingly, however, artists are accepting high-end interior design commissions.

Unlike actors who see such commercial work as having little to do with their artistic expression, many visual artists seem to embrace such design commissions as another equally valid medium for exploration. High-end clothing stores have led the way in using artists, with fashion house designers playing the role of curator. What results are interesting spaces that combine an artist's vision with that of the company, further blurring the already fuzzy line between fine art and design.
